The town has become one of the most sought after places to visit on the Costa del Sol. It has expanded greatly in the last few years and much of the old town has been renovated and improved. Walking around the historic centre you will find beautiful cobbled streets lined with pots containing splashes of pretty colourful flowers and palms. Each square or Plaza has its own character with many having a fountain or statue. Also look out for the murals dotted around, which have created a lot of interest. To the north end of Calle Terraza, you will find the Estepona orchid house which has a central waterfall and is just a few Euros to get in. Estepona has a long coastline offering several different beaches, including Playa de la Rada and Playa del Cristo, both hold EU standard blue flags. The property is located at the foot of the Los Reales-Sierra Bermeja Natural Park, a protected area with native/endemic forest species such as the Pinsapo. You will also notice that the Sierra Bermeja mountain seems to turn red at twilight, due to the peridotite rocks that offer the characteristic colour. Due to its location on the Costa del Sol, Estepona has great road links to various historic towns and cities. If you are considering some trips out, have a look at Ronda with its famous bullring and gorge, Granada and the Alhambra Palace, Seville with its huge plazas, which was also home to the Expo 92 exhibition.
